Heading towards Ikamatua, it's on the left about 500m before the Slab Hut DOC Camping Area which is signposted. The start of the track goes into a small shingle pit area, and up a very scratchy bit of track to an open area, then continues from the left end of the clearing. It gets VERY knarly with deep ruts but is a great challenging track. Mostly driveable without winching if you manage to place the wheels in the right place, but can tip you over pretty quick if you get it wrong. Don't try it without a winch - and minimum 2 trucks would be my recommendation....

This probably the bit he is meaning though. This bit of track has been referred to as the slab hut track for quite some time.
Green hut is a mish to find if you have no idea how to get there, and even if you do there is a very good chance you will miss the exit out of the river and still never find it. Mind you it has been 10 years since I have been in there......

Slab Hut creek is off Sawpit Rd ( the road leading to BigRiver)
Turn off is at S42.11.467 E171.52.758
Someone can prob confirm this as not 100% as my note book is hard to read.

Muddy is right. But just to clarify other posts the road runs right through between the Big river road and the state highway as Muddy has described.

Off this road you can get onto the Saddle road and the Green Hut track.

Have u seen it? I presume you are talking about an old track that had a slip take it out and a new one cut over a bank above it?

Also lockers all round.. and you will have a good chance of driving up.. Most in that video either had lockers or lsd in the front.. makes for easier driving especially up there..

Never heard green hut referred to as slab hut but have heard it called chinaman's hut and scriv's hut.

I have always known the track reffered to in the first reply as slab hut track.

Yes it does look like fun... I reckon it had not long been opened a 2 weeks before Easter judging by the tree marks. We got there about 4:30 one afternoon with a convoy and it was the last day of 5 days with a long drive home the next day and thought nah - we'd be tempting fate so turned back. Took some turning around....
