Terrano Issues

Post by travis2ninja »

Hi,
I bought a terrano with a blown motor, I had a spare Navara NA TD27, which i stripped down and put new gaskets, seals and everything from the Terrano motor on it (Turbo, Air Con, Injector pump).
Runs great better then my other one, no smoke even with full throttle. 8)
I have two issues.
RPM Gauge, Terrano has a plug under timing cover, navara had one on the front.
I have extended the wire but doesn't seem to work.???
Also have a problem with the Auto RE4R01A.
I have changed the Fluid, gear changes are smooth as.
Problem with the torque converter locking.
It will lock for around a minute, then unlock and will not lock again.
I have tried different temperature sensors on the thermostat, and have put 12v to the solenoid and it works. I'm assuming the temp sender on the auto is working because it does go to lock for the same amount of time every time it happens.
Could the auto problem be caused by the revolution sensor?
I have looked at the service manual and just says to check the engine speed signal circuit.
The A/T Check lamp flashes 16 times , not sure what it means? :?:

Any help will be appreciated.

just do the lock up mod and stick a switch on the gear lever to lock it up manually just remember to unlock it of you want to stop etc....

The tach sender as i recently discovered even though it employs your typical magnet/ground pulse it still requires a converter through the egr controller as before i did the mechanical injector pump swap on my TD27T the out put to the instrument was a + voltage.
Waiter...there is a drought in my glass.
