The call of the diff brace

Post by Trundle »

So in the last few months two of my customers have bent there diff housings like bananas , one a Gq and one a ln hilux beam axle ,
Is there any call for diff brace kits as rather than manually fabricating them I am thinking about doing a cnc profile for the patrol to start with as I have some molly axle and a eaton locker to put in a shaved diff for myself ,
Or is it just us that wrecks this kind of stuff hahah

Yep, I've bent hilux axles before and would like to know how much a gq brace set would cost now

If you are capable of welding on a diff brace, one would think you are more than capable getting the local sheet metal joint to bend on up or fab one your self.

I appreciate that any one can get one bent up but as you know if you were to pay around $150 or so for a full pre made cnc unit , the price and time for pissing around making all the brakets yourself as a one off, it wouldn't be worth while,
I just have another turbo set up to jig up for a guy along with a million day jobs and its on the to do list !

Laser cut and press would be my suggestion, you just need someone to design it. I can put you in contact with someone who's done development work on race cars to do the design.

as already aluded to further up the thread the key to it is making up a jig to secure the axle housing and keep it true without warping it while you weld it all up the design and cutting a bit of steel up is the easy part and a few bits of box section to truss it up lets a lot more mud and shit through than a great big bulldozer blade does :D
