Looking for a replacement engine for a 1990 Suzuki Escudo - G16A replacement engine.
Not sure (yet) if the G16B (or even G15A) will fit in seamlessly, without having to change other components - happy to hear advice from anyone who has already done the research on this.
Cheers
Stephanie

What's happened to the one in it?
Re: Wanted - Suzuki escudo G16A replacement engine.
Is your current motor a 16 valve injected motor? If so any 16 valve G16 will fit whether it's G16A or G16B. If 8 valve then a G16B 16 valve would require significant changes to make it work and wouldn't be worth it, better to find another 8 valve motor.

Hey,
Thanks for replies and clarifying that for me littlepeepee. It's a 16V so that's good, had read discouraging info about the dissy and manifolds being different.
Current motor has a cracked head. Hence why the car was a gift, hence why I'm not too fussed about doing a big spend on it.
cheers

Hey littlepeepee, again…
Do you mean to say that all G16A and B's are usable, and their gearboxes will match?
Thanks,
Stephanie

Stephanie, I think I see what you are trying to ask. I'm guessing the dizzy manifold problem you mention would be the fact that a Fwd G16 from eg a swift/baleno the dizzy and water outlets for the radiator are in different places and would hit the firewall if used on a rwd engine. The manifolds you could just replace the head with another G16 one and use you old manifolds, but the dizzy I know at least on the G13s the cam is different to accommodate the different dizzy drive gear. I suppose you could probably swap your old can in as well if your keen enough. Of course the easiest way is to find the same engine you already have save hassels

Got a EFI 1.6, ECU and Loom I just brought back from OZ. Purchased in Perth at Suzi Store to install in a Sierra. Was rebuilt Beleno with Vitara Head on it to make it a Nth/Sth and not Est/Wst. Never installed it.

Hi McZook,
I've just seen your post about the 16v Vitara engine you have.
If it's still for sale and you have the means to get it to a transport company to send to Wgtn - I could be very keen.

ok mind my spelling but here goes. the bro in law cooked his G16A last year so after looking for a long time for a good replacement we were told that a G15A will fit in with a couple of mods. So thats were the fun started
drop the sump off an swap the oil pump pick up over so that the G16A sump will fit other wise G15A sump will hit on the front diff. Next ya have to swap inlet an exhust manifoilds off the G16A to the G15A. theres a coolant pipe under the inlet manifoilds that needs to be swaped over as well. Remove both rocker covers an swap the G16A cam into the G15A make sure u set tappets while ur in there i dnt remeber what they were. put the G16A rocker cover on to the G15A so that the dizzy will fit back in. not sure what a G15A comes out of aprat from that it was a front wheel drive. As for start up and running i dnt think theres much diffrents in power
