Mechanical Fuel Pump Pressure?

Post by 3VILC »

Google doesnt seem to be much help for me today, neither is the FSM.
Does anyone happen to know what the output pressure of the G13A mechanical pump is? I'm trying to get my SU conversion running but now its spilling fuel out the overflow so suspect the pump pressure is a little too high or the little SU needle valve isn't creating enough restriction to open the pumps pressure relief. But trying to find the actual pump output spec before I go buying a pressure regulator just to try it haha

That's where I double researched the idea although the swap was already done on this engine but had to replace the carb and give the head a bit of a rebuild so today was first decent chance to fire it up n try tune it. Has always prior to doing head randomly revved up to about 1500rpm briefly but thought it was to do with the valve issues in the head but its still doing it now. And after seeing fuel out the overflow today makes sense the fuel level is rising too high in the float chamber. Its a new carb so needle n seat should be OK hense I'm lead to suspect too much fuel pressure I know the su doesn't like a lot at all. Have since found the Suzi pump is 6-9psi so I guess I need a regulator or lower pressure electric pump
