Turbo Manifold Q

Post by zukmeista »

Bought a turbo off a 2.8 bighorn that I reckon I can make work on my rugger but the at turbo to manifold join the turbo bolt pattern is about 1/2 a hole out and not enough room to slot holes on turbo so was thinking fill up old holes and drill and tap new ones, could the existing holes be welded up?

You could weld and re thread the manifold but you will want to get someone who knows what they are doing to weld it or it might crack later on. I had a cast exhaust manifold modified years ago, when it was welded they preheated the manifold in an oven before welding then they also controlled the cooling in the over after welding.

what about a adaptor with the turbo say 20 degrees rotated and use cap screws to the manifold and tap the adaptor to take the turbo
