4WDing in Warkworth/Wellsford area?

Post by zukmeista »

Anybody know of any places to go in this area? Have checked out the infamous Dome Valley track but wouldn't have a single straight panel left if I attempted that :D . Have been to Woodhill a few times but keen to find somewhere new. Don't mind paying a small donation for land use if neccesary. Not much point putting 36" Swampers on my truck if I can't find anywhere to use them

don't know any at the mo. there was one farm that used to charge a small amount. not sure if thats still going.
dome forest has had to many idiots with stolen vehicles running around that they have dug out the tracks etc to stop people getting in. not sure about the back tracks, there was one on the kaipara flats side.
WW club is the one to ask.
cuz was making a @#$ steep track in one of the forestry blocks (with friendly manager) but the block was sold a few months ago. i havn't caught up with them or the new owners.

will ask around but everything is bone dry at the moment.

most of the dome valley forests are closed to 4x4's. most of us have switched to bikes as there is there is more tracks/places to go in the area for them. the ranger in the tomarata south forest has an area set aside for 4x4's and there's the infamous dome track (as mentioned)
we used to go to sand island in tapora but doc are shutting that one down too.
poutu is a bit of fun but doc might be an issue there too

might be worth hooking up with one of the 4wd clubs up there they are pretty well established and should have access to a few areas nobody else has access too

Cheers dude, let me know if you find anything. Doesn't have to be hardcore bushbashing mudthrowing type stuff quite happy to go for a cruise round farm tracks. :D

Northern end. best to see him as he is trying to keep the bikes and 4x4's seperate for obvious reasons
