ive been ringing round for tie rod ends, autostop reckons there are 6 different types, and I need to find out if they are male/female,left or right hand thread and if they are 23mm or 25mm......they said just bring them in,problem is im out the manukau heads and its the only vehicle I have to use?
Would anyone know what rods I need to get?
What a bloody saga. The guys on trade me just want to sell me a complete unit end to end for $260 odd bucks, but I dont need the relay bar, just the ends.
Thanks guys.

Re: 91 safari tie rod end confusion
hi Trundle, thats with the connecting bar aswell? I dont really need that do i?
Re: 91 safari tie rod end confusion
Factory tie rod ends are all male, the only difference between the 2 sides is left or right hand thread, ie one side left and the is right. Easy enough to figure out which is which, if it goes in while turning clockwise its right hand thread. To be honest I thought OEM thread was 19mm.
People you been talking to are trying to confuse you. Ring someone like SAS, they should be about $50 inc.

Re: 91 safari tie rod end confusion
thanks so much for that info dude, and yep they did confuse me thats for sure.Do you sell them at all? So id still need to remove them to check for thread direction? What a pain in the cock. if I was to buy a complete end to end set up,would that be an easier option, cause I know if i do the ends myself ill still need to go for an alignment afterwards, but if i went with the complete lot with bar included theres less chance of need an alignment straight away?
Thanks alot for you guys help, its not easy spending money with some people (repco),as im 40km away from town and 70km from the closest parts shop, and have been sold wrong parts too many times, they never offer compensation for fuel,or panadol

Extending on from what 4WDbits said. Undo the lock nut and note what direction that moves. You'll need to loosen it to replace anyway.
Measure the exposed thread to get what size.
Other option is get 1 of each, LH and RH. Chances are you'll need to do the other side soon unless changed in the not too distante past.
Even with a new bar you will need an alignment anyway. The assembly will not be preset to any particular lenght.
Either way you do it measure center to center of the tapers when they are 90deg to the bar and set the new tierod or new bar to the same dimension. Will be within ball park but only anygood if the alignment was good in the first place.

Re: 91 safari tie rod end confusion
It comes with heavy duty internal threaded tie rods and the 5.6mm rod to , The factory one is very prone to bending as its only about 2mm , If you just want a second hand tie rod I should have a few but would want to check they are just a box of beers kind of price lol !
Re: 91 safari tie rod end confusion
my bar looks standard,as it has the clamp ends, not lock nuts as such.
Im just going to have to take them in i think, bugger it.
Cheers for the offer trundle, shipping would be a pain as im on the awhitu peninsular in west auckland, cheers though
