suzuki farm worker ageing

Post by bigstu »

Hi guys, usually a toyota man but have always liked the wee zooks
Im moving out to new farm job and in the shed theres two bird shit covered
Sj413 utes Im hoping to buy off the boss fingers and toes crossed, ones a flat deck the other a well side deck like the new ones you see at motorbike shops, they both have sj413 on them but no farm worker badges like some had they dont have jailbar grills but other type and matching white spoke wheels is there anyway of telling there age from this discription? Or is there a build plate i could find?

Thanks Stu

SJ413's were made in the late 80's, had a carby 1300 with black tin rocker cover on the motor. There should be a silver build plate on the firewall, if I recall correctly it is on the drivers side by the battery I think it has the build date on it. The wellside LWB 413's are quite rare and it could be worth decent money if it isn't too rusty.

Cool thanks will have a look at weekend after moved in, how much do you think they are worth to someone unsuspecting? few hundred each? where are they most likely to rust? I see the front gaurd lips are rusty theyre covered in that much mud and bird shit its hard to see anything else.

Thanks Stu

Running/driving ones usually sell for 1500+ on TM, farmers love them. Bit of rust in the guard seams is pretty normal, but easy to replace guards. Other common places are bottom corners of firewall, floorpans, seams on rear cab wall of flatdecks. I guess just ask what he wants for them, depends on how clued up he is really. Also worth finding out reg status, a tidy reg'd/wof'd 413 flatdeck sold for over 7K on TM recently
