charge issue

well good old mitz alternator being buried at bottom of engine,(bloody dumb idea if u ask me) coulpe months ago had to do a rebuild of a alternator,got tested and found out the stator was stuffed so auto sparkey found and fitted a replacement one,now truck seams to be charging at 16 volts when idle and 18ish whe under load,any ideas of cause or way to fix?,dont wanna be cooking my batt.i had a idea that replacement stator mite have come from a 24 volt system,

any clue fellas?
33" muddies, 50mm body lift, ball joint flip, quick release front sway bar,40mm lifted rear dobi springs and new shocks,custom sill body armor,custom front bar.

I'd say the regulator in your alternator is blown,check if this was changed when the stator was done,If so should be under warranty, Although if it's been in deep mud or water they way not warranty it. 18 volts plus is normal for shorted regulator.Let us know how you get on.

Agree with dctechno, I had the reg go on my lux. The thing was charging away and simmering away the electrolyte. It is a simple plug in replacement on the lux as it sits seperate on the fender.

cool thanks,will check in morn if it was replaced,mite have to take it out again :( if that the case

$4 solid state reg. fixd.
Dont follow me. i'll get stuck and need a tow..
