Chinese bikes

Hey guys i'm looking at buying a dirt bike for the summer was just wondering if anyone had any experience with any of the chinese bikes that are floating around at the moment. I would be just learning on it really so i don't want to spend to much cash really.

Hey mate,

They are ok if all you are after is a bit of fun punting around a paddock. They will quickly start falling apart if you take them on half reasonable rides.

If you are handy with a spanner and don't mind fixing stuff, parts are dirt cheap and reasonably easy to come by (trademe etc)

I had one, albeit a Pit bike, and the only trouble I had with it was wheel bearings and the chain. Motor was strong as.

They are ok but as the saying goes you get what you pay for. It may be a bargain and be a minter, but then it also may be a complete lemon which pretty much goes for anything second hand away!

Cheers Sketchy i figured as much i would only be after a cheap bike to learn on over summer then get a better one when am a bit more confident.
Might go have a look and see what it rides like.

I did the same thing last summer, never riden before and just wanted something to learn on. Got an old 1984 Suzuki ts185 or tf185. Highly recommended! Very low 1 st gear, perfect for learning. Paid 550 for mine, got 525 or something back 6 months later.

Now theres a blast from the past. I had a ts185 and a tc 125 (or maybe it was a ts125 and a tc185 ). Loved them cheap as (got my spare parts from the dump - bought a whole bike minus front wheel for 20 bucks) and easy to play with. Best thing was the 185 had a high / low box so was great for dragging firewood out of the bush and like you say easy to learn on cause you couldnt go really fast and it was hard to stall.

I have and both my boys have Forza bikes and we love them and ride them hard . I got the 155z big wheeled one cost about $2700 NEW .
We all have a great time on them . Even my oldest son dose all his own services, cleans it too .

The best thing is that i could get us all one of these thats 3 bikes compared to one say like KTM etc
