WANTED: Truck Up to 10k

Hi all,

Hi all,

I have up to $10k to spend on a truck. Looking at a few LN106's and Surfs at the moment but the ones I have checked out so far have been rust buckets.

I am open to anything really - although I am a Toyota man but will consider others. Prefer diesel but not an absolute must. Would also like to buy one that already has things done to it (ie: lift, snorkel etc)

I am in Christchurch but happy to buy around the South Island if need be (maybe even consider North Island if a superb deal comes up)

Best value for money is a Nissan Terrano R50 with 3.2 Diesel. Should be able to get a very good one 1997-1998 for 10K.

We just bought a minter recently but had to get it from Wellington (we're in ChCh too) as these are very popular in ChCh hence less of them and higher price.

Also depends if you want a daily driver as well or just a mudder?

Cheers for that mate. It will be my daily driver but have had a few trucks lifted on 33's that have been daily's for me and have never bothered me. Not wanting a "road truck", want modded.

Will consider the truck you mentioned!

re lifting - my understanding is that, because of the chassis, the R50's can only be lifted a couple of inches which may not suit you.

These are some things that you may want to think about to help narrow down your selection

Do you want a solid front axle or is IFS ok for your application
Manual or auto
coil or leaf sprung suspension
Long or short wheel base
availability of after market bits

By answering these you will narrow down what you are looking for and can then go and drive a few to figure out what feels best for you

Hey mate, cheers for the input. Have owned wagons that have had the majority of those and have all had their pro's and cons. I'm keen to see whatever is out there (without having specific criteria to begin with) and make a decision from there.

Reason being is there are some great vehicles out there and I don't want to rule them out from the get go!

Hope you know what I mean

u can have my 80 series for 12.5k. new rims n tyres, 50 mm spring lift n longer shocks to match. regd wofd n rucs all current.

Cheers for the photos - looks a bloody nice wagon. Upon further thinking though the Cruiser is just a bit big for my needs sorry.

35inch BFG All terrains
4.88 diffs
rear auto locker(lock right/powertrax)
Full size swamper spare
Manual/mechanical fuel pump by Kaiapoi Repowers
New 2.5 inch exhaust
Custom Front Winch/bull bar with cradle for low mount electric winch
Sliders
Rear bar with built in 50mm receiver
Rear boot organiser/draws with spare under
cargo grill
Have all the bits needed for PTO including winch and gear for inside transfer case.
Also have set of 36 inch Simex on flipped 15x8 steels
Front guards have been trimmed to run 36's
so front factory flares are gone, nice rubber ones now fitted.
hasnt been used bugger all lately (read last couple of years) and now looking to get some property so need the money.

I'm in the wairarapa (north island).
I have a beam axle surf. 87 body.2 seater. 93 surf v6 motor trans loom etc. 34 in simex jungle trekkers. rear locker front lsd. snorkel. 2 inch body lift 2 inch lifted springs. just about ready for 2 winches. all certed reg on hold at mo. I usually trailer it. I need a back seat & something a bit more practical.
trailer will be for sale too if surf goes.

would consider swap for a mod surf, prado, hilux possibly a v8 disco or similer.
