Tailings track is not passable at the moment has heaps of trees down. Will need afew big saws to clear the track.

Tires are like boobs, they always look big until you have played with them for a while, then you just want a bigger set.

tailings track can be opened again with a bit of effort. So can the others damaged in the storm .To many people see afew trees down and turn back instead of getting stuck in and doing a bit of work, every little bit helps. Most of these tracks have been closed by storm damage in the past and have all been reopened.

A group of us from Nth Canty club cleared Moa Bones (a large number of hours and huge trees) at Q Birthday but Flags will take quite a bit more effort...
I'm keen to take a group in there to make a start on it but need willing volunteers (and before spring when I get too busy or Xmas time). There is a huge amount of trees crisscrossed up both sides of the track.
It's important to keep these open for all of us to use :)

Hi, anyone know if the road past the Tailings Track turnoff (Charleston end) is clear up to the top turn-around where the walking track up Mt Fleming starts? Thanks.

Can do a Westport work weekend 9/10 Aug when the trip was originally down for. Only got a little saw though :( And my tyres are only 33's :( but at least I've got a big.... lunch box

Steve, If you are keen, I'm in for spending 3-4 days in Westport and spend 1-2 of them clearing some of Tailings or somewhere else.
Any others keen on a bit of a working bee and a few days driving. Nuts owes me a trip to the top of Mt Fred.

I think the weekend of the 9/10 Aug or 16/17th. I good for either, but the 16/17th would be better.
Either way I'm definitely in.

Definitely keen....
I plan on going over about Wed or Thurs (6-7/08/14) and staying in Westport (prob camp ground) through till Sun or Mon.
I am keen to make a start on any of the tracks damaged and hopefully finish one or two.
Also there for a bit of fun so a few good driveable tracks along the way...

Perhaps put your name below and dates you can make it so we can have a bit of a team situation :)
I have a couple of chainsaws etc.
Cheers.

We are both happy to camp in the bush.

4. Drive It. 9th & 10th.

I'll head over to WP Fri evening. Pref stay at Westport Holiday Park. Probably just come over in my work ute and get a lift to tracks. If weather is good might look at using some leave and taking the prado over.

You guys sort out dates and I will do my best to be there. For the guys talking about camping out in the bush there wont be any shortage of firewood. :D .
