Best bets probably getting a 350 smogger off that v8 joint in chch, take all the injection emmisions shit off, throw a manifold carb combo at it.
Softroader VW Amarok nowadays....

I do, but in taranaki

1 original bore 4.00" 308 1972 era that I freshend a few years ago tri pattern
1 +30 308 probably rope seal turbo pattern, heads off was a solid runner
1 +60 sitting in a VL, decent cam, probably done less than 10000km on rebuild(tri pattern) have trimatic as well but it seems to flare a bit going into 2nd, not sure.

But you should probably still go with a chev

x2 on the 350 mate there pretty old long in the tooth donkeys but there's shitloads of them out there still climbing out of the woodwork and plenty of old parts, new parts and any parts you want for them and all pretty cheep :D and if you don't want to go cheep theres plenty of $$$ bits out there for them as well :D

if you want to go holden go find one of those injected 304 engines and shove a rear bowl sump and pickup off a 308 on it and drop it in they go pretty good :D they are usually a bit under rated so nobody wants to use them, their loss your gain :D

Probably $300 would be as low as id go, I have a new set of ARP bolts that I would recommend to go with it, but $300 as pretty much a long block. Just need to put the heads on get a dizzy and carb( I have some stuff lying around) and a starter and shes a good un
