Have been running the 30spline superset (axle + cv's) for the last two years - swear by them; don't even look like breaking under conditions that would have others in pieces.
Makes for great piece of mind on the trail.

100% agree with Leithfield. An absolute must if you have front lockers and/or biggish tyres.
The guys I run with used to go through between 2 - 5 cv's per outing, (that is only with 3-5 trucks on a trip). Leithfield himself did 2 cv's on 1 trip before changing to the longfields, and after changing cv's in nasty little gorges and on the side of really shitty rivers, the joke wears thin really quickly.
I've run mine with 36" swampewrs and have just recently changed to 39.5" swampers. Never had a problem with them. We have 2 other rigs with them as well, one on 37's and one on 36's, and no problems there either.
Not the cheapest thing in town, but for peace of mind, they are worth every cent

Ugly is a state of mind..... and the state of my truck!
So no one you guys know has ever broken one?
I am running a 1uz-fe (maybe supercharged if done in time) with a front locker and 35" extreme treckers as a winch challenge truck.I like the idea of the 30 spline ones being unbreakable but, if you did break one at a comp theres nothing else that will fit a 30 splined end. At least with a 27 splined longfield your still using a standard toyota axle and can chuck in any old cv to get going again.

There are guys in the USA who are running ' charged 350 small blocks (350-500hp) on 40" tyres plus. They have had very few breakages (at last count I think it was 3).
If it worries you about breaking them, just carry your old axle set and cv's with you,(you can then replace the whole side, and it,s quicker to do that than replace a cv any way.)
I'm telling you they won't be needed

You wont break the 30spline super set (axles + cv's) - even with a grunty setup such as yours above, the Longs will take everything you can throw at them, and snarl back:
