Vp s2 motor

Post by jade_l »

So the 3.8 in my surf finaly gave up, im pretty sure the engine is a s2 vp unit. Do the s2s have the same differences in cranks as the older s1s.
Just trying to sort out wether i need to be looking for a auto/manual or just any old series 2 motor.

If you find a vr manual motor my understanding is it should be a straight swap. The bonus with the vp motors and why they are preferred is because the gearboxes are completely mechanical, auto or manual,so there's no issues with different looms for different gearboxes

look for a paper sticker on any t700 before grabbing a motor and box,
2H and 3H are manual 4H has electrickery and I have seen 4H's come out of vp's, just down to which gm parts bin got emptied and the vehicles place on the production line I guess
problems are only a problem if you not willing to learn how to find solutions
