VX Cruiser overhead compass/altimeter console use?

Has anyone installed a UHF radio into their compass/altimeter console?

I am thinking of gutting mine out and fitting a GME TX3120S UHF raido up there. http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=754454605

Is this console easy to remove?

Another option I have thought of, when looking at the Auber website, is to use this console to house some Auber gauges in it.

I could use these dual gauges for a nice clean fit. No need to have them in my line of sight as you only need to glance at them when the alarm is triggered?

GME radio fits and looks awesome up there.
Easy to use and easy to hear and out of the way.
