Anyone have some unwanted CVs from a 92 Terrano that they would be willing to sell to me as spares? Upgraded my tyres to a 32 (from 31) so want to air on the side of caution before hitting the track next.
Cheers in advance

Re: WTB 92 Terrano CVs (for spares)
I have almost a complete front end , r200 diff I think both side shafts and hubs etc . One hub is missing a brake caliper I think .
Could be talked into parting with them , in bombay so a bit of a drive .

The drive isn't a worry to me, i frequent between Auckland & Tauranga so often passing through Bombays. I could be wrong but I always thought the 92 & below Diesel Terranos are R180 diff so CVs are different to the R200 that was used in the V6?

Yeah as passengerpete alluded to last week, the V6 and diesel front ends are completely different. The V6 is an independent carrier version of the MK Patrol C200 live axle, ie all the internals are identical.
The V6 models use a double offset inner joint, which is essentially just another birfield. These offer a bit less angularity but greater overall contact area (therefore strength). Identify these by the 28-spline outer shaft, or the flange where it bolts to the centre section has 5x1 bolt pattern.
Whereas many of the diesels/4 cyl gassers use a much more common tripod joint. These offer more angularity but lower overall strength when cycling. Identify these by the 27 spine outer shaft, or flange where it bolts to the centre section is 3x2 bolts.
Unfortunately you can't put DOJs in a vehicle equipped with tripod joints, as the DOJ shaft is a larger diameter and won't fit through the retaining needle bearing in the spindle.

Thanks Lax. As always you are a wealth of knowledge on these trucks, I would like to eventually swap all the gear over to V6 CVs as you did but for now just wanna find some spare of the standard Diesel front end CVs.

I may have a couple of those 27 spline one's that i would be keen on swapping them for v6 28 spline models
Up graded a while back and have been through a spat of them recently so only have a left spare at the moment
Cheers,

Cheers,
So in other words if I find you some v6 28 spline ones, you'll have some 27s for me?

They're interchangeable. There is no left or right side.

My '95 Terrano also had the 28 spline CV's on it too as per the 2nd picture above.
Pity you all did not post this earlier as I gave a spare set away with the truck.

Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.

Was worth a try

Yes I have spare 27's.

But if second hand, it pays to instal them in the same side as they wear the other side of the cup groves causing premature failure. Found this out the hard way

I will have some no longer needed 27 spline cv's hubs and r180 in about 2 weeks. But postage might be a bit pricey.

Cheers Dan, I'll see what Simon comes back to me with first, but yours maybe an option if I'm really struggling to find any up here
