Lifted the Challenger today

Lifted the challenger this avo. Took 2 hrs with new springs and wound torsion bars. Would not take much longer to drop second bolt in the shocks to also replace.

All done at home. Just disconnected bottom shock bolts, rear sway bar, brake line onto axle. Then dropped axle down and replaced springs and put back together.

Wound up torsion bars and currently have 50-55 mm lift which I expect to settle.

Would only take 1-1.5 hrs now I know the tricks. And cost 200 bucks with discounted Cobra springs.

Rides much better with less sway but certainly stiffer with torsion wound up.

leave sway bars on the rear get longer links the axle moves on a different arc due to straight up an down shocks .
the sway bar limits sideways movement , with out it it will snap the top off the shocks

I have left swaybar on. Can u explain the longer sway bar extension theorie again?? Do I need extension added?

I believe it's to keep the ends level with the ground, and not over stress them when it flexes

What cobra springs did you use? I have had no luck from a lot of company's telling me they cant do raised springs.

If it was mine and you were not wanting the perfect handling 4x4 then I'd leave the rear sway bar off it hangs down low.

The ride firmness will be coming from the rear springs no doubt, as raising a vehicle with torsion springs doesn't increase spring rate. At 50mm lift you may be wanting to look at trimming those droop bumpstops in the front.

Not trying to worship the schlong but...

By changing the torsion preload to obtain lift...by increasing the UCA angle you are reducing the effective radius, therefore lowering the torque (twisting force) on the t-bar.

If torque is a function of force * radius, the more you increase the UCA angle, the more you reduce the effective radius and therefore lower the torque on the torsion bars. As a result the torsion bars will deflect less. This makes the frame try to move more which can be felt in the seat of the pants, and also reduces articulation and makes it much easier to lift a wheel. Then theres the whole down travel thing.

Springs are from Repco although you can get direct from Cobra. Springs are just 2inch lift model part number CTRR103Pro, or CCRH-249. Which ever one is the challenger as I bought hilux ones at same time. I chose standard as didn't want extra firm.

I need to give the bearing a tighten up and re-grease before wheel alignment. But def getting it done

Just ordered an EGT gauge too, so installing that once it arrives along with a boost gauge.

Can you post a side photo of the bracket?

Does the bracket eliminate Brocken shocks?

I prob going out for first muddling since lift this weekend. So will see what difference I have in articulation.

Excess sideways movement can be caused by sloppy panhard bushes too. Then it's a matter of getting used to road driving without a sway bar. Only wind torsions up +10mm or so from factory spec and the off road gains are maxed out at that point, other wise it may look cool but ride like cart springs. After a day out wheeling, you don't want to feel like shyt has been pounded out of you.

not on a challenger simon, the shocks are straight up and down and they have a press steel low arms, and they move on a arc when one wheel goes up heness a broken shock,

Cut the bump stops in half today on the front and also found my outsider each bolts holding the sway bar on completely bent. Have taken sway bar off and find little difference on the road. Will go for a play in the local spot today and see how it goes.

Worst case is snapped shock which means I get a shock upgrade all round. :)
