Having problems with my Safari where the brake pedal is creeping to the floor, brakes still work fine the are rock solid when it is off.
Have put a new master cylinder on and gone over everything looking for leaks although it isn't using any fluid.
Any one got any ideas on what it could be?
Brake pedal creeping to floor
Re: Brake pedal creeping to floor
On my GU, the brake hoses where bulging under pressure. Ended up replacing them. Could be something like this?
Re: Brake pedal creeping to floor
I have swapped a couple of hoses over, but can't see any that look like they are bulging

Re: Brake pedal creeping to floor
Get someone else to operate the brakes with the engine running and then have a look at the hoses.
As the rubber degrades you can get hose bulging, although usually felt as a spongy pedal similar to having air in the system..
Vacuum leak or leaking diaphragm in the booster?

Does it creep with the engine off? If it doesn't it's probably got some air in the system still and the vacuum pump is increasing the assistance so it gets compressed more.
I'm assuming it's a diesel motor.

Probably the slave cylinder, that what it was for me.
Re: Brake pedal creeping to floor
Cant remember the syptoms on mine but after bleeding the proportioning valve it was sweet.
Re: Brake pedal creeping to floor
when your bleeding them start at lhr rhr lhf rhf and also make sure you bench bleed the mastercylinder , also make sure your sliders on the callipers are free , Other points of mention if its only under vacume that they are shit other than bulging lines is to check that the booster seals are not fucked and drawing vacume onto the master cylinder ,

I have be starting at the load sensing valve then lhr rhr lhf rhf, yea bench bleed it, the slides are good.
How would I check the booster seals?

Tried that no luck

Na it is good with the engine off, yes it is a diesel, not really sure how to bleed it any better.

When I pull the hose off to the booster it still has air in it.

Same as mine ben i have had loads of people look at them and it just comes back to me in the same condition . i have replaced pretty much everything over the years with no improvement. I have just brought a set of those new break hoses of trade me from aussie called safebrake but havent fitted them yet
Re: Brake pedal creeping to floor
I think I remember you telling me about that, must be the way some of them are. I managed to get them good enough to get a WOF.
