Re: Westport Winter 2014
i went in last night to check if a log on the other side of the first crossing had moved with all the rain ... no such luck lol if anyone decides to go in from that end the tree just needs winching as me and flag went in on the last hit and i winched it till my winch died and flag put a couple of cuts through it so will be easy to move now .... as going up the bank beside there u could well rip your tyres on the roots sticking out .. as for further in went in with nelson club a few weeks back and cut the way to the skidd site at that end ... mite want to widen it a bit tho lol
people think i have a problem with insanity .... i dont i enjoy every minute ..... 0278900597

All help welcomed, just bring whatever you have... saw etc or just yourself
Dont worry about ur truck, it'll either be fine or you can jump in with someone else.
Cheers

Toyota Landcruiser FJ40, front and rear lockers, 35" simex.
Toyota FJ45 build in progress.
Tires are like boobs, they always look big until you have played with them for a while, then you just want a bigger set.

Re: Westport Winter 2014
It was a bloody good day on Saturday and it was good to meet some new faces.
Tailings was open by the end of Saturday just in time for the group that went all the way through to winch out, except for the Nissan that drove out

Re: Westport Winter 2014
I got 4 photos all weekend, nothing worth posting, but a huge effort was put in by all to re open the track, I had a great time meeting a few new faces and talking shit.
If you drive the track the work put in is very obvious in several places, especially at the Tailings end where the last hill climb out was totally covered over in trees, and one large tree at the top about 3 ft. thick blocked the track completely. Driving out the last hill climb you are under tree trunks most of the way up and roof damage is possible if you have a tall truck.
Nuts' truck put in a huge effort winching trees out all day to clear the exit.
A large pine windfall at the Totara end was also a huge effort to clear, mostly cut out by Flag and Nuts prior to us heading over, and cleared by Barnsey and myself on the Friday.
