d21 terrano driveshaft measurement

Post by Trench_rat »

Ive searched the net with no real luck so im wondering if someone could please measure up a driveshaft for me? I have a 3" lift in the back of my d21 navara which has the twin solid shafts with the rubber mounted centre bearing. The lift and added flex means this bearing gets a hard time and doesnt last long , im looking at replacing the rear section between the diff and the centre bearing with a two piece splined shaft. Has anybody done this or know of it being done?

On this thread we all get our shafts out to take photos and measurements and compare with each others shafts....

just go to a engineering firm and get them to spin you up a spacer, for my rodeo it took a 50 ml spacer. cost 50 dollars from taylor engineering wanganui for one made up in about an hour from billet steel on there lathe.

chopping tail shafts brings a whole new exercise in expense that isn't needed.

Thanks for the link josh thats exactly what i was looking for 8) however it has turned my idea upside down as the terrano d shaft is not what i thought. I was in fact thinking of a hilux surf shaft that is in two pieces and slides in and out of itself , this way it would stop the diff movement from pushing and pulling against the centre bearing and blowing out the rubber bushing all the time.

4jb1 M.U. with leaf spring rear. got one buried on the farm that was used as a donor vehicle that had the exact type of shaft you described.
