Fitting the egt probe into the motor, either put it after the turbo in the dump pipe or before the turbo in the egr blanking plate? Pros and cons are if prob breaks it'll go though the turbo when fitted in egr plate, but will get higher more accurate readings?
Where do most people put them?
Cheers

I put mine in pre turbo in the collection point of the manifold.

Im going to put mine after the turbo in the dump pipe. lots of room and will give you the best readings.

no it doesn't.
it gives the worse readings.
best reading is pre turbo. a bit of debate between at collection point or just one cylinder (eg egr port).
rare for probes to break and even rarer for them to damage the turbo.

Totally agree ... pre turbo ( Turbine Inlet Temperature ) is far more accurate... mine is in exhaust manifold where all 4 join together..... at end of manifold where EGR was wont be that accurate.... but will still be better than after turbo.

+1
Always pre turbo, closest to the middle of the collector where gasses are fastest and hottest. This gives you the most accurate information. Let's face it you are putting it on to avoid a head crack situation so give yourself the right numbers. Don't run over 800ºC for extended periods.
As an aside, looking at the exhaust design on the 1kz I'd say they will either crack in the top of the exhaust ports on #3 or #4 cylinders, or under the precomp chambers...

IFS all the way...go the mark 1 Pajero!

If you remove the heat shield theres a nice flat spot on top of the manifold in the collector, that's where mine is
Can take pics if need be

Could you please. And how did you mount the probe.

Choose one of these....

The probe I used is this one.

With the 1/8 NPT threaded adaptor....But there are others...
