Rear rad water temp

I have a rear mounted rad the water temp going out of the motor is always 20 degrees more than the water entering the motor after going through the radiator. Is this normal .

I think we need a bit more info on your setup .
Running a thermostat?
Fans on or off...
Idle or full out under load....
Temp it is actually running.....
A drop of 20 degrees after the rad isn't much....

When thermostat is open . It ranges between 165 and 195 depending on how hard its working and if its hot ie sunny as but if engine is 195 its 170 going back in to the engine .its always 20 degrees difrance only

My reading of the article is that the temp drop should be about 10 deg F, as you have got about 20 degF that would indicate that your flow is abut half what it should be.

Yeah. I think Suzolla is onto it (based purely on my understanding of that article). Also if you are talking about 20 degrees Celsius, then your flow is well down.

That was only one article that I got a hit on... I would be looking for more to get a balanced approach.
The thing I got from it was no matter if it runs hot or hotter again you will always get the same temp drop....

The water flows through a 2" steel pipe through rad and back through 2" steel so would it not be cooler than a standard car setup .what would be the benifit of going from 20 to 10 deg

Correct me if im wrong .reread the article .and my understanding ,is if i speed the flow up the water goes throught the motor faster and is 10 deg cold when it come out of the motor .
How do i increase my flow .do i pull my thermostat out and replace it with a plate with a bigger hole in it than my thermostat has

You could look at pulling out the thermostat and running one of those Davis Craig electric water pumps with the controller.

I could and but i dont have $600 to spend on a pump at the moment as the sth island targa i getting real close now . Looking for a low cost stop gap for tge short term

Do you have an air pocket in the pipes somewhere, or depending on your layout could the flow of the pump be battling against a mild thermosyphon effect?

I do have air problems .if i drain the system .it seem to take a lot off effort to bleed it out .

Just a silly question.....Is it operating within acceptable range of temps??
Is it overheating....Even at full load?

Yep, that's my understanding of that article (which I now take as gospel, lol). The cheapest way I know that you could increase your flow would be to reduce the diameter of your water pump pulley, or increase the diameter of your crank pulley. Either of these will turn your water pump faster, thus increasing flow (and pressure).

Definitely fix this, if not fully bleed then your flow will be terrible. If you know where the air is accumulating you could install some air bleed valves.
We have a few on our water filtration system and makes priming the whole circuit so much easier.

Temp is ok ,was mint at road work ,when the going gets tuff .its ok .but if its sunny as its boarder line .i would just like alittle more in reserve.
Fullthrottle . I have two bleed points .i do get all the air out but its a big job some times it can take 5or 6 goes.

Just bought a thermostat that flows 30% more water and opens 20 deg colder .they are used in the desert and africa .
