Holiday Tour Report & pics - Nelson, Kahurangi, Wairarap

Post by Clint »

Did a bit of touring in the cruiser over xmas. Went down to Nelson to visit the girlfriends whanau, then did some exploring up through the Wairarapa on the way back.

Shot up the Tukino Rd a bit to have lunch on the way down:

Spent a few days at Moenui in the Sounds, found some neat little tracks:

Back to Nelson over the Maungatapu with Rosie's dad:

Went for a drive out through Golden bay & down past the Whanganui Inlet onto the beach. It was a pretty good day for the coast. The V8 certainly does the business in the sand. We stopped to check out the Anaweka river before crossing, I walked it a few times to make sure.

We carried on down to Big River & parked up, then walked down to the Kahurangi lighthouse. We stayed in the newly refurbished old keepers house/hut. It's a very cool spot.

Wandered out the next morning, went down to the Anatori mouth for a look.

Sailed back over to Welly after xmas had a quick look around Terawhiti (cheers Mike!) Then went over to Palliser bay & back towards Baring head, turned around at the Mukamuka Sesquicentennial Covenant.

Went around to the other side of the bay, had a look at the dozers of Ngawi & drove out past the Palliser Lighthouse:

Saw this very cool 40 series:

Did a spot of tramping in the Tararuas then went out to Castlepoint:

Checked out a few backroads up the coast to Akitio then Waimarama & off home. All in all a bloody good trip & the wagon went really well.

Cheers

If it breaks, build it stronger.
If it doesn't break, drive it harder.
