80 Series landcruiser ABS Problems

Post by lankyy »

ive go an issue with my abs system when i turn the truck on the normal happens abs lights on for 3 second and goes off so i drive down the road after about 200-300meters the abs light comes on

ive cleaned all abs sensors and have had a scanner on it but the scanner cant read anything or get any signal from the diagnostic plug

does any one know how to fix this issue or turn off the abs for good?

I have had this issue in the past - was caused by kingpin bearing failure, allowing the sensors to touch the speed rings ever so slightly, but enough to wear them so as to throw out the speed variation calculation and hence throw up an abs fault. Genuine sensors plus harness were $2.5k from yota last time I priced them...

My solution was to get some through a parts importer (pm me for his details), but another way to solve it would be put some manual hubs on front then engage the centre difflock (abs will then be disabled)

Hth :-)

Had the same problem when a rear wheel bearing was on the way out. Enough movement that the sensor was missing the pickup notchs . New bearing fixed my problem.
