Nissan terrano Breathers

Post by maxnz »

Hallo all

Recently we installed a few differential breathers to my dads Pajero, that got my wondering where my Differential, Fuels Tank, Transfercase and Automatic Transmission breathers are.

I have a 1995 D21 Nissan Terrano, TD27.

I located the rear diff breather very quickly, it is just a hose going almost straight up into a cross member, then I checked under the bonnet to try and locate the rest.
I read somewhere that one found a breather pipe with an open end on the top centre of the fire wall, i found that one too, its a reasonably thick tube that goes straight done and towards the back of the vehicle ( see photos ). Then I looked at the front diff and saw that a hose was running out the top and off to the left side, I checked on the the left side of the vehicle and found another open end breather pipe right next to some sort of plug close to the power steering fluid ( I believe ), as I tracked down that tube i noticed it joins up with another tube which also runs to the back of the vehicle.

I know it sounds confusing but I have included photos to hopefully make it easier to understand.

Does anyone know what breather is for what and where they all go?
Also if I am incorrect on anything please correct me :)

Thank you very much in advanced!!
