Kzn185 Locker options

Post by imsohi »

Hey all

i know you can get harrop/eaton lockers for these but im after a mechanical type mainly for cost for in the rear of my 185. does anyone know if they are available?? failing that i may look into a rear axel swap are the A series rear ends compatable with the 130 type G series i.e. does one bolt in place of the other thought i would check on here beforing crawling under the house to get my spare 130 out to compare.

Cheers Leigh

The elockers are the most expensive, just under $2K.(installation labour on top of that)
The ARB air locker and compressor are around $1600 from memory.(plus install)
The lockrite/lokker or eaton detroit locker are much cheaper options, and perform very well off road I'm told.
The eaton true trac lsd is only marginally more expensive than the lokker/lockrite option, and suffers none of the on road driveability issues that the lockrite has. Forum sponsor Tim/suzolla can provide them. They are slightly less capable off road, in that if you lift a wheel completely off the ground, you can lose drive, unless you touch the brakes or pull the handbrake on slightly, causing it to lock up, and drive. I really like my true trac.

to answer your other question, your G series diff will bolt straight in (or G series locker to existing diff)
for some reason toyota changed the diff code (G to A) not the actual diff.

Leigh.
Have a look for a Kzj95 rear end with locker.
The whole unit will bolt straight in.

Yes i understand the prices and types of lockers and have had all over the years but the info i was after was as LOLYF said that the A and G are interchangable so i know know i can now get a toyota 8" locker and install it.
