1980 Hilux Build

Post by locktup »

Hello im Jason from California. Ive been getting a few customers from NZ so I thought I would post one of our new builds.

I picked up this 1980 long bed from its original owner last week. I wasnt really looking for a project but I couldnt pass it up.
Its going to get lots of tube work and links. I have not decided on axles engine or anything else yet.

Got a little more done today. The floor was rusted out so just removed it all. Its now sitting on the chassis table. Im going to build a 2" round tube sub frame and the rest of the tube work will be 1.75". Links front and rear with rear trailing arms. At the chassis end of the trailing arms I will machine Delrin bushings to press into the bushing sleeve and all other chassis and axle ends will be 1.25" heims.

Sorry about the slow updates. Im not only a full fab shop but I also have a full retail website which keeps me in the office answering questions and shipping for days. I get out to the shop when I can.

The 2" DOM sub frame is all done and attached to the cab. I welded fish plates to the inside of the cab for the tube to tie into.
