VG30E +T conversion for 94 Pathfinder

Lately I've been looking into doing a +T conversion to my vg30e Pathfinder. I've tried doing a bit of research into it and have found some info but most of its a dead end.. I've heard that the VG30DETT engines aren't really an ideal conversion as they are prone to particular problems (i suppose all engines have there flaws though) but at this stage i'm not prepared to do a full engine conversion.

I just wanted to see what everyone else's opinion is.. I'm open to constructive criticism so hit me with your ideas! This particular topic has probably been covered a thousand times but i still haven't seen anyone have any success completing it yet.. I feel that my truck would benefit from a turbocharger as a 'pick me up' as it feels like it's lacking a little in power now with the 33's and the weight of the bar & winch on the front

Ideally i'd like to run a single turbo setup with low boost, possibly 5-8 psi. I was thinking of spending a little bit extra and getting some custom manifolds made up to loop round to the front and have a flange on the passengers side; A little similar to this

If anyone has any experience with a vg30 turbo conversion i'd really appreciate your input

Look into getting a factory vg30et and using that?
Usually the fitting of the turbo is the easy bit, getting it all tuned etc is the $$ bit

you are probably better off spending the money on a Vq**de or Vr**De engine with the later 4 valve heads, this will give just as much power(over more of the rev range) due to its more modern design and technology. not to mention more reliablilty.

turbo charging an already aged motor is asking for trouble. you'll be looking at piston crowns with out taking the heads or sump off before you know it.

yes I under stand the draw of having turbo chargers but comapring a early 80's designed VG30et/det to that of the late 90's early 2000's N/A designs the newer Vq/VR N/A motors will walk all over the old VG blocks.

The advantage here also being that the VQ/VR with its direct ignition system is not so prone to missfire stall when in contact with water.

the VQ can be found in many a nissan(even renults) from vans to fwd sedans to sports car's with or without variable timing and range in capacity from the 2.0 litre starting at 187 hp(which is only 13 less then the VG30et) up to 3.7 litres with 330 hp(100 more then the VG30DETT) they even made a 4.0 litre depending on the application and tune it was given and what car it was put in.... they'll piss all over a turbo VG.

All I hope after typing that is your running an auto box as it will bolt on up. manual is a different story though

oh and nissan did make a single turbo VG30, just a matter of finding the exhaust's and dump pipe. came out in the late 80's gloria cedric and 300zx

^^^^Plus one, although a turbo v6 would sound pretty meeean why not do both?

Thanks for the help guys. I wont rush into anything just yet in that case. Like you said, i suppose it is a gamble turbocharging an already aged engine. I guess a genuine vg30et engine could be an option.. tracking one down though will be the hardest bit
