Howdy.
Looking at driving from Loburn up Okuku Pass, down into Lees Valley and coming out at the back of Oxford. Length being about 98km's. Looking at taking one truck as I understand the shingle track is not overly strenuous.
Does anyone no when the Okuku river would be deemed not safe to cross?
Currently running about 1.8 cubic meters per second.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks
Philbo

Well, if 'Mr ORE ' can drive his mothers corona through, my Pajero and I should have a relaxing trip.

Drove the Okuku Pass a couple of weeks ago - great, relaxed trip. I certainly did not have to be concerned about the Okuku river.
Very scenic. Great trip for a Sunday drive.

There are some cool little side trips off the main road as well for the more adventurous, just check with the locals as they get concerned about stock worry/theft.
That was a pretty bizarre day when we went up there with Mike, had sun, wind, snow, hail and it was bloody cold. As one of the guys put it, we spent 11 hours towing the wrecks around Canterbury to do 1 hours wheeling (down the okuku gorge which happened to be flooded).

Ugly is a state of mind..... and the state of my truck!
