Hi all, just wondering what others are doing to protect under the hood compressors from water? Is it possible? Or will it need to go elsewhere?
Cheers

Re: Protecting compressor from water
as long as air intake up high and dry a bit of wet stuff don't hurt them,

Re: Protecting compressor from water
Cheers, is it ok to put a hose on the intake and take it up through the firewall or something?
Re: Protecting compressor from water
trying to make your compressor suck down a hose will only create a restriction and reduce its efficiency ie it'll work slower and hotter
if the water your talking about under the hood is submerging the compressor then rethink its location get it in the cab somewhere, if its only water spray then generally they are ok if your worried about it you could try and make up some sort of shroud to give the intake some sort of protection from direct water spray

Re: Protecting compressor from water
Thanks for that.
My main concern was with river crossings.
Maybe I could use a temporary bung in the intake for crossings or maybe it will just have to go elsewhere.

Re: Protecting compressor from water
ARB suggest a long hose for air intake for water crossings or tap into air cleaner
