Transverse auto for 6g74
Any thoughs on an auto tranny for the 6g74 to give a typical front wheel drive layout. Would a Legnum 2.5L tip tronic mate up? Any other suggestions? Cheers Andy.

Diamante 3.5? The auto will bolt up - will it do what you want?

Re: Transverse auto for 6g74
Looking to build a buggy and use stuff I already have. Idea is to centre mount motor with a front wheel drive gearbox, diff welded up so what was left right becomes front rear outputs. Would be 'low range' only of course. I googled the 6g series motors and it appears they all share the same bellhousing bolt configuration. Thinking a tip tronic with paddles on the steering would be nice. Also an all wheel drive box might be useful if I could configure the rear output to run a winch.

u will struggle to get the transfer to work for a winch the viscous is not that strong and neather are the center diffs.
if anything a mivec fwd gearbox if u wana stay in brand but I would go with adopting a windom box

Most of the legnum engines are the 6a series, 6a12 and 6a13. The 6g73 is a less common 2.5 G series I think

Ok, so tell me about the Windom box. What year to look for. What other models shared same box? 3L Camry? Aisin? Model numbers
Cheers Andy.

So according to wiki its the A541E? Its an Aisin one but couldn't find an Aisin model number. Probably used in other Jap cars too? Its electronically controlled so what do the trials guys do to control it - use the standard ECU? Is the standard ECU linked to the engine ECU?

i think the 541 hasthe electronic pressure modulation, where as the 540 is "std" hydraulic auto, for the 540 we wire the soleniods to give the gear we require off the shifter using the position switch on the side of the auto.
the 541 you could adapt a megashift or similar computer to run that i think
