mazda bounty loss of power

Post by jord213 »

can anyone help me i have a mazda bounty 2.5td 2wd 2003 , i have taken my ute to two workshops each one hasn't fixed it, ive changed air filter oil filter fuel filter, cleaned the other little fuel mesh filter, i had a aftermarket intercooler it was done dodgey so i replaced with original and took off and inspected all hoses all were fine so no leaks, the two workshops have done, checked injector pump and timing was all okay checked wide open throttle at pump was all okay, removed and cleaned blocked throttle filter in injection pump, and the other shop had just checked for fuel restriction and was all okay and then checked boost pressure and adjusted fuel to 14psi? and he hooked my boost gauge back up as i had unplugged it all, and he said it was reading 10psi? so he adjusted back to 14 but im 99.99% sure it was reading 14psi before i unplugged it?

anyone able to help lol kind of sick of going to workshops charging me $100s of dollars and then tell me my utes fine when its lacking alot of power compared to two of my mates same year model etc utes

waste gate isn't closing properly get the injectors cleaned....

last thing if you have air and fuel, then the only thing left to check is compression
Waiter...there is a drought in my glass.

Yea waste gate and injectors, was the timing checked?

How dirty is the intake? May be worth stripping everything back to the intake manifold and cleaning, it will cost you mothing , just time, process of elimination

When you say lacking in power, can you be more specific?
These 2.5's have a nice on-boost surge when pulling from low revs with WOT (Wide Open Throttle)
Does yours have a "boost" in the power delivery? Can you hear the turbo spool up? Does the motor sound good? Rattles?
Can you get a mate to follow you and see what (if any) smoke is coming out of the exhaust? If your making black smoke but no power then I would suspect either turbo wastegate stuck or turbo issues.
If it is not smoking and maybe starts to boost but dies away then look at fuel delivery.
Cheers

no pull at all i can go first 2nd 3rd foot flat and it just feels like no pull at all, can hear a little bit of spooling im pretty sure do they spool when revved in nutral as i couldn't hear it when i tried today but when driving i can hear it a little im sure. ,never had any smoke until the first guys i took it to adjusted the fuel and it had black smoke but ive since adjusted and now has no smoke again, motor sounds good no rattles aswell, and both workshops checked fuel restrictions and injector pump etc but no faults there?, i do have a boost gauge plumbed in and it reads 14 psi but im about 99% sure its not reading correct, where is the proper place to plumb one in on the 2.5td?

Rappers are a big one on these. Meant to be done every 20,000kms. If they haven't been done in 50 or more you'll notice a big change once adjusted.

Think the previous post is meant to say Tappets
Have you checked intake system for leaks. Have seen intercoolers on those with holes in them
