oil leak help

hi there guys I have a problem with a oil leak on my 97 Terrano looks like its coming from the oil pump cover anyone had this problem before , easy fix or what ....looks easy not to sure if it has gasket there ...

terrano's come with many options...including different engines....guess what my next question is.

They also came with factory option oil leaks... when it stops dripping refill it dipstick?

hey Einstein.....what engine is in your truck..Diesel /petrol 2.7 3.0 or 3.2 litre.. kinda helps narrow it down a bit don't you think....followed by is it manual or automatic... have you done any mods like fit an external oil cooler....

The first reply was pretty valid mate, wasnt alot of info in the original post
Presuming its an R50 which engine has it got td27, qd32, vg30 (are there more?)
Put up where your from, some nice fella in the know might even call round and have a look
Failing that, ask your local Nissan dealership or local workshop, they're not all evil, you know ive even heard that the people that work there are in fact humans just like you and I some of which are even friendly and happy to help out (within reason ) except for salesmen of course, dont get me started...

TD27 /QD32 the cover is all one piece so it could be as simple as a cover gasket leak to a main bearing. is it from the front of the cover or the back.....

front could mean main bearing back could be vacum pump.(97 didn't have vac pump on alternator, is gear driven under injector pump)

then there is the petrol v6.....the oil pump cover ..could be a gasket..but could also be the plug the contains the spring and ball for oil pressure by pass..if it's squirting out there it's blocked where it's supposed to be going...(just an example) could also be main seal.


and so on and so on.....

too many variables without knowing some details apart from....97 terrano.

have you done an oil change recently and used say dallow 400? why? it has a detergent that will loosen deposits, possible even deposits that hid a previously poor or deteriorated gasket?
