Factory Terrano wide body flare replacement

Post by maxnz »

Hi there!

I recently broke/smashed one of my rear wheel flares on my wide body d21 terrano.

I have ordered a new one, but since these are hard to come by and I don't want to ruin it when replacing it, i thought id ask all of you folks who have done this or something similar for any advice you have on how to do the replacement. :)

Anything is much appreciated.

Cheers :)

Get rid of all of them, they'll only get smashed off again

But they are very easy to remove and even easier to install. If it is a rear you may want to remove the wheel to make it much easier (fronts you can just spin the wheels to access flare clamps). Also might want to give the wheel well a good clean to make access to the clamps easier. All you'll need is a 10 and 12mm socket wrench and a Philips screwdriver. Mine had a couple of rivets instead of bolts in the front flares so you may need a rivet gun and a couple of rivets, or just drill in some self tapping screws instead.

I snapped the remaining good flares on mine in half just trying to take them off due to them being clipped to the side of the truck as well as around the wheel perimeter. Watch this if removing flares and want to keep them!

Hey mate!

Thanks for your answer!, yea its a rear one, i probably would take them off but seeing i will sell the car next year and it in really good nick i thought it would make sense to leave them on, how did you go about removing the 2 rivets? did you drill them out? Its just that I have access to all the tools apart from a rivet gun and power drill

Thanks again!

yea you can drill them out or drill the hats off them with a larger drill bit and the shafts will fall out.

Mate - invest in a decent cordless 18v drill from bunnings or wherever it will quickly become your best friend. doesn't have to be a power one (although they are cheaper and more powerful).
