IFS surf diff head lokka install

Post by jade_l »

Hi there been having a crack at putting my lokka in over the weekend and have come to a bit of a halt.
I cant seem to get the diff head out of the housing.
Ive removed the axle tube. Both axles and bearing caps.
But the diff head wont come out. The 2 roller bearings on either side sit too proud and hit on the housing in either side.
Do they need to go in to clear? Or come right out?

i never had any problem getting it out. they are fairly tight fit.
did you remove the little stub axle? ie take the side housing off that uses E sockets.

Not 100% but I think the outer edge of that bearing should be flush with the edge the diff.
Can you tap the bearing back in?

Yes, I had a zoom in and there is space for the bearing to push in, best to get a socket that fits the diameter of the bearing and use it as a drift to tap the bearing in.

that bearing doesn't need to come out. its not stopping the head from coming out.

Diff is back in surf now havent tested it though. Cheers for the link but doing it the way they show would of damaged the bearing. In this case it cant of been driven home properly and was stopping the head coming out of the housing.
