Seatbelt mounting brackets

Post by Kiwi S3 »

Hi,

I have bought a set of retractable seatbelts for my SIII Landrover to replace the original static ones on the two outer front seats. The kit came with all the parts needed, except for some small 'L' shaped brackets that are needed to fasten the retractor mechanism to the bulkhead behind the seats - the static belts bolt on horizontally, but the retractable units need to be mounted vertically.

I've searched many places in NZ for suitable brackets, but can't find anyone supplying them - they need to be suitably strong to work properly (and I should think to pass a WOF) so don't want to just cut up a bit of angle iron laying about the garage.

These look ideal:

US $1.50 each - but postage is over US $55 to get them to NZ!

Is there a local supplier (preferably Wellington, but anywhere really) that sells this sort of stuff?

Cheers,

Mark

Have you tried Seatbelt Sales in ChCh?
They had no trouble supplying all the hard wear and belts that I needed when I retro fitted retractable belts to my FJ40.

$55 of freight is minor lol ....you are steeping into cert country... if you could screw the new belt into the original mounts it is all good but changing the mounts that requires a cert at $500

I'm going to do this to my landy with in the next 6 months (probably later lol) but I'm getting alot of other things certed at the same time

seatbelt sales in CHC is the way to go, I bought a couple of L brackets off them and as they are bolt in replacements for the existing non retractable belts, dont need a cert.

Thanks for the tip about Seat Belt Sales in Christchurch.

I gave them a call yesterday and the brackets arrived today - just what I was looking for. Great service.

Cheers,

Mark.
