looking at 4WDing up the pouter river as far as i can go and walk to lake minchin to have a fish maybe stay the night in the poulter hut
Can you 4WD up here? i have read there is a track. Is it easy access or do you need permission or a gate key?
Has any one done this track before? how hard it is?
Any info would be awesome
Cheers

Can drive in track to doc boundry but there is one slide you have to go down river on the way out, the trust hut (closest to lake) is a good day walk and only do it when rivers low, lakes about 3 hour walk from memory ild say go in for 3-4 for days to make it worth it

last time i was in there, there was a quad track and the 4wd track had been washed out. had to find a way to drop in to the river and follow that up all the way or untill you could get back up on to the track.. bout a year ago.
but as said can only drive to the doc fence/gate.
please put your finding up on here would be keen to know.

Hi Was up there bout October last yr. Theres a washout near the start but you pick the track up again and its pretty good till about 1/2 way up the valley. After you drop down the big scree I'd just stay on the river after that. We got back on the track but seems like its only being used by quads and its pretty scratchy. River bed was pretty good travel. We made it back up the scree to the track on the way back out but it was both lockers and a fair bit of pedal.
