I noticed th other day, when travelling along in my cruiser, around 30-40 kms and up, that when you take your foot off the gas pedal you get a nasty vibration in the steering wheel, it may be vibrating other places too, but you really feel it in the steering wheel.
The vibration leaves once you put ur foot on the gas again, and it doesnt come bak untill you fully take your foot off the gas.also, while coasting/slowing down with foot off the gas, its vibrating, as soon as you put ya foot on the cluctch and push that in it goes away, and if you let the clutch out it comes bak.
Its really got me stumped, to me it means something is wrong in the clutch/flywheel area, but i dont really know, lol, thats why i am asking you genius guys to help me:)
spoke to the mechanic about it and he said could be play in tie rod ends, but that doesnt explain the vibration leaving and coming bak when it is gas or gas off/in gear out of gear.
thanks 4 any help offered:)

vibes
could be U.J's in prop shaft. check them,if any movement at all(try twisting to check movement)replace and road test to check if vibe gone. universal joints do all sorts of funny things.might not be the prob but worth a look.might even be loose wheel bearings,, what sort of cruiser is it?
If you already know everything, DON'T ask bloody questions!!

Bad vibrations
Its a 1987 fj70, with the 3f engine, 4L. It has a crank seal a bit worn, which is leaking oil i guess into the flywheel and clutch area. I tried burning a bit of oil off the clutch last night with the revs in 4th gear while stationary as i thought this might be causing the problem, it seemed to get slightly better with the small amount of clutch/oil burning.
The Transfer case has got a knock, which i noticed awhile back. from my research this pointed towards a worn shaft in the transfer case. Could this be causing the vibrations you think, the car has done 227k and ive read that the shafts can wear out at around 200k.
Ill check the ujs tonite for movement.
Cheers boys.

mine does a similar thing but it is more noise than vibe, i put it down to my rear diff being so worn/ out of adjustment that its noisey in over-run.
the only time i have had vibration in the front when off the gas was loose wheel nuts or loose/ buggered bearings in the front, but neither were in a 4x4.
you are running with your hubs out on the road? the front drive shaft in most wagons are not ballanced to the same degree as the rear and that may influence things too.
