2 inch Lift, caster correction bushes/arms

I have just installed 2 inch lift springs in my 110 and now it feels quite knifey on the road after about 90 km/h. Question is are the caster correction bushes adequate or do I have to get new radius arms?

How many degrees has the vertical axis been rolled forward compared to pre lift. You should get 3 to 5 degrees from correction bushes.

Did you fit caster bushes or replaced the front radius arms completely?

now this is a can of worms

ok you lifted, and this has Rolled your front diff, looking from the drivers side clock wise, but this you already know

this has also rolled the input or drive of you diff up as well, not a bad thing and it reduces the drive shaft CV angle.

off set bushes will roll the diff back but will also level your diff again, increasing the drive shaft angle, worse because you have a lift. and these offset bushes flog out in no time, logical if you look at one

Cranked control arms will do the same but at lest you will get articulation back.

best solution is slotting the swivel housings. machining the swivel housing bolt holes or slotting the holes so when you mount them you can rotate the housing back without rotating the diff

Slotted balls are my favourite! although I think they have milled further than they needed to on this one, there is probably 7-8 degrees of correction there

yep that's the ideal. have you thought of packers ether side of the bolts?

the clamping force of the bolts on the two opposing flanges would create enough friction to stop them turning i'd say.

its not about them moving its about setting them up, same size spacers each side means you will get the same angle each side. quite important when you are over slotted

Ingenious solution.
I suppose that the biggest force they will experience is frontal impact.
Interesting that you used the 12 point bolts.
On that picture, has the radius arm mount been slotted/plate welded over too?
Also, it looks like there is some metal deformation at the slotted end. Is this due to frontal impact/tiny amounts of movement?
I really like the retailer bolt idea.

LOOK i think people are over thinking things

6 point bolts are common as are 12 point, every disco i have had has 12 point, but all my defenders have had 6 point.

all though i have a clients D1 here now with 6 point

i suspect the 12 point with flange is a bit better than a 6 point with a washer.

you do not need a kit, just pop off your swivels and take to the local machine shop. any one with a mill and a rotary table can do it, set up and machining time is about an hour. well that's how long it takes me to do.

lastly it is a VERY common solution. well it is in Australia where like where i am IN South Australia so such things as WOF or MOT do not exist ( that's correct) so 6" lift may get a question from a cop. but more likely a COOL comment.

yet they seem to be the largest aftermarket parts supplier for Land Rover in the World.
So guess they must be OK otherwise people wouldn't be buying off them ..............

12 point bolts are standard on the Discovery and Defenders from around 1993 from memory.
