So iv acquired a 1993 SWB pajero with all the bells and whistles factory rear locking diff, sunroof, push button suspension lift, rebuild auto trans under 10.000km, adjustable shocks but had to replace shocks up front so standard shocks up front and is coil rear, seems to have engine issues or i have been told by the previous owner my uncle. Has WOF/REG minimal body damage a few scatches nothing major really one small dent in the front of the bonnet like a 50cent size dent.
My question is whether its worth putting a new engine in if it is shot and how hard it is or is it worth selling it as is and how much you guys think it would be worth as is with unknown engine condition.

Re: 3.0 liter Pajero dilemma
Rebuild the heads, get them skimmed to raise the compression. The major issue with the 3l is the valve stem seaks and guides, the ports and combustion chamber gets fouled up with carbon and oil and they run poorly. All 3litres ive have seen including the one had all suffer this issue in some form or another. But once done you will never regret it.

to rebuild the heads on mine was 980 inc GST, that included skimming down the heads to raise the compression and porting.
I removed and stripped the heads myself apart from removing the valves before taking them to the engine rebuilder
didn't included new head gaskets head bolts sealants manifold gaskets etc.
