i have a 410 & 413 what parts should i swap..into 413

Post by gdz1la »

i have a 85 410... it was gutless and reved to high on open rd
so i brought the big block suzuki lol.. i brought a 85 413

the 413 has a slightly winy rear diff.. and no manual hubs
so i will swap the hubs first

should i swap the 410 diffs (4.1) as i want to get 31's one day.
and transfer iswell?
would make 410 better on open rd with its 4spd and the 413 better off road with 31s.. is trans and diffs to much

any other parts which worth swapping... and no im not swapping the f10 :P

Apart from the transfer case on the 410 (which I will assume it will have a 4wd light switch) then the rest of it is fairly worthless. The front and rear diff/axle assemblies are weaker than the 413. If you are going too run 31s on the 413 I would build a rockhopper or buy the bits too do it. The reduction you get form running a 410 transfer in a 413 is hardly worth the effort of swapping them.

ok ill keep the diffs in but surely the trans will componsate for the speedo and the bigger tyres? not a huge jump but good enough to be drivable and keep speedo reilistic

the front leafs on the 413 are quite flat, should i be swaping or replacing these?

and are you sure 410 diffs are weaker.. in what way?

I would mesure the length of the springs first. As far as Im aware they are different lenghts and won't swop over

the 410 transfercase is about 12% lower geared in hi & lo & is easy to swap so I'd do it. Building a rockhopper would be the ideal & pretty cheap since you have both 410 & 413 cases.

If it breaks, build it stronger.
If it doesn't break, drive it harder.

If you want to use 2L - 4L lots you'd be best to talk to Ben T about twin stick... If you just remove the selector ball then it's actually a bit of an art to get it into 2L. Once you do you can go between 2L and 4L but then you need to use the special moves to get it back into the normal spot. It becomes very confusing as to where it all is and half the time you think you've wrecked the case, when really it's just in some half way spot. You only really need it if your running two lock rites. Then you can go back to 2WD for really sharp turns. If you need to tow in Low on road it will never be far and you can just unlock the huhs if you want to achieve that.

It just replaces the single stick. Fits fine, there is heaps of room  Soon you'll be saying 35's don't fit easily either  Where there is a will there is a way.

The twin stick is really cool but only worth while like I say if your using twin lockrites and need to 2 - 4 all day in low range.
