Bj74 radiator question

Post by 87cruiser »

Hi I've got a 87 bj74 with a 13bt and auto with a stuffed radiator. I've tried a couple shops and they don't have a listing for a automatic bj74. Can anyone tell me if a manual fj70 radiator or of another 70 series that can fit? I intend on running an external trans cooler so am looking for a radiator to a suit a manual. Thanks in advance for any help.

fj70 radiator has the filler cap on the radiator, 3b radiator has no filler cap its located on the thermostat housing and I think 13bt is the same, fj70 has top hose outlet on passenger side and bottom outlet on drivers side, I'm pretty sure 3b and 13bt have both hose outlets on the passenger side, any radiator shop will shift hose outlets around if you get a radiator with them on the wrong side(s) :D , I don't think NZ ever got auto trans fj70's but it sounds like you don't want the radiator trans cooler anyway, if you have a search through google images you should be able to verify it all and work out what will fit :D The mounting holes on the body are all the same but I think the radiator brackets/mounts are slightly different between FJ/BJ models but fit or can be made to fit :D
