I put a HEI distributor on my chev, no points and the coil sits in the top of the cap.... they provide about 50,000 million thousand mega volts at the plugs :fire:

I brought mine from Americian V8 performance on Hutt Rd, they talked me into buying an Americian Proform one and not a cheap taiwanese version, it cost me about $300 bucks and turned out to be americian but made in taiwan :? I've still got my old HEI but its pretty tired and I've just kept it for parts.

You'd have to replace your HT leads if you put and HEI on

The dizzy's quite a bit bigger so you've got to watch the clearance with the firewall.... I think I can just get a feeler gauge between the cap and firewall on my truck?

Dont use an HEI..they are very old technology.
Buy somehting like an Accell electronic distributor...match it with one of there colis & big leads & youll be amazed at how massive the spark will be..so big you have to be vey careful.
.I used one in a hotrod i used to own that had a small block chev in it...awesome.
I got it from Summit Racing supplies in the states.
Much cheaper than buying it in nz.
