WTB: 255/85R16 tires

Post by BadCo »

Looking for either 255/85R16 MTs or ATs, need to be road legal.

As an alternative I'll take 235/85R16.

So what have you got?

Cheers,

I have a set of near new/3000km old B F Goodrich A/Ts in 235/85/16 that need a new home.

Four are new with 12mm tread, the spare is about half worn.

Bump!

Haven't heard back from dieselboy, so still looking.

Not sure if I have done the PM right, seems a odd system on this board.

I'm sceptical about the private messaging system, I assume you would have messaged back after posting your reply. But I haven't got anything!?

ORE PM's. A damn mystery!

So I replied to your pm, but then it sits in the outbox for a while then moved to sent folder.

Do the PMs get screened by the admits or something? Or is it a anti spamming trick?

Sits in your outbox until it is read by the recipient, then shows as being sent

What they are worth and what I can afford are two different things.

I don't know what he wants for them, so trying my luck.

There was an auction on TM for them not long ago, IIRC the price was $1200ish so if $650 is your budget might have to look elsewhere.

Good on that guy. If Dieselboy wants to put them on TradeMe for 1200 then he can do that. I started a WTB thread, Dieselboy offered his tires, I offered a price, he declined, I made another offer, now I'm waiting. Nothing wrong with that.

I'm not sure why other people are getting involved when they don't have tires to offer.

I don't want to spend more then 150 per tire on ATs, otherwise I'll just get some cheap new ones.

I simply stated what I thought the tyres are worth to give you a ballpark figure to work with

At that budget go buy some cheap new ones and watch yourself replace them at least twice before those bfgs
Would have worn out

Only BFG, Maxxis and I believe Toyo make a 255/85/16, all quite expensive. There a big tyre too, think my Bighorns were 33.4".
Theres some cheaper tyres in 235/85/16, alot of cruisers run that size. Might be able pick some of them up cheaper used.

Give me more time to think on the BFG's, I'm playing with rims at the moment :D

For what it's worth, here's some real life tyre comparisons for ya. Left to right:

35 x 12.5 R15 Maxxis Creepy, 255/85/16 Maxxis Bighorn, 235/85/16 BFG.

The Big Horn is awesome, 33.2" is its actual measurement, 9.5" wide. It makes the Creepy look like it's off a road roller or something

Thanks for link. How much tread do they come with new? They look more then just a third worn at 5mm.
