Bunnings Garden edging mate, works a charm :D comes in like a 15m roll & is cheap as chips.

I looked at the garden edging at Bunnings recently and felt it was way too rigid for my liking, so went to Para Rubber and got some 4.5mmx50mm rubber strip, think it was $7 a metre, nice and soft but thick enough to hold it's shape.

Whatever you do don't buy the rubber flares from Repco, it's an absolute rip off.

Conveyer belt rubber. i think i have 3mm. Can do full width of your guard replacing any inner skin, is nylon reinforced and nice and supple while still holding shape. Only the front done below (first attempt had that sag in it :x ) and hadn't been shaped yet.

Have seen garden edging damage the vehicles panelwork as its quite rigid.
