Diesel ECU

Post by JJ »

Does anyone know if the computer out of the 2.4 EFI is compatable with a 1KZ motor? I can get hold of a motor but the computer is not with it, but I have a comuter out of a 2.4.

Sorry to Hijack

What exactly does the diesel ECU control?

Is the 2nd version for the intercooled engines?

Can I chip my motor (93 1KZ-TE Prado, not intercooled yet)

I would expect a surf to be the second version, not sure how well labelled they are but we found that the Sensors and Injector Pump are different between the two versions so you can't mix and match. The replacement 1KZ came out of a van, we had to swap all the sensors and pump...

Not sure how to tell exactly. Not much documentation on it as most are V2...

basically as long as motor and ECU are out of same truck, you'll be fine... so just make sure you get a surf 1KZ ECU

I have been told that all the ECU did on the 2L-TE was to advance & retard the injector pump timing. Don't take that as gospel though...

If it doesn't break, drive it harder.

1kz computer

For the price of a link computer you could buy a manual pump ; then no computer or sensors required at all. Also wiring computer up is quite a mission, have just finished mine :) .
