hilux inner guard trimming

Post by Petemcc »

Any body got photos? New feet are going to rub at the back of the inner guard on the front below the accelerator. Time for a trim!

Also rear of cab is close but might be ok. Anyone trimmed that?

Cheers,
Pete

yep 37 creepys. Still not 100% sure if I will keep them. Got them cheap enough so can always sell them again. Either way I will still keep my other tyres for normal stuff. If I do keep them they will be off road only.

Axle is already moved forward about as far as it will go

I have no photos but on my RN36 I cut the flat section out of the floor just in front of the body mount. Then cut a few slits in to the firewall (the bit that would be behind the accelerator pedal) pushed it back and welded it back together, adding some panel steel where needed. It's not uncommon to get a bit of rust around the body mounts so easy to pass it off as a rust repair.

Reading that back to myself I suspect it is no help at all.

Good luck.

Don't go too hard with the hammer! I gave the back of my front guards a bit of a bash to help make some room, and then I quickly found out that I couldn't get full throttle because I'd gone in too far! So I just took the hammer to the inside of the cab and went the opposite way for a bit!

so is it legal? considering i already have my cert and dont really want to get a new one for it. Also tyres will be off road only (only certed for 15x8 and 35s/33s)

Pretty similar to a rust repair isn't it?
