Safari Snorkel

Hi Everyone - Newbie here
Ive just been given a SS700HF snorkel, just wondering if anyone has one fitted, do they allow good airflow without the snorkel head like the other types?
Is the same as the picture minus all the other fittings, templates etc

I have that style on my Navara and didnt notice any difference in performance, So I assume they flow enough. The only other thing to think about with this style is you get wicked induction noise with the passenger window open, but you also dont have to worry about it snagging when in the bush.

the technical answer is no because the engine has to draw air a longer distance and around corners which means added resistance and friction so the engine has to work harder to get the air into the combustion chambers , but despite that unless you've added some other sort of other restriction into the intake (crushed pipe or reduced diameter) you wont actually notice any difference in engine performance triple check the template before you drill or cut any holes some templates are good and some aren't actually designed for this planet once you've got it installed and everything plumbed in pop the ram off the top and try sealing your hand over the top of the snorkel while the engines running to check for leaks, disclaimer: just do it quickly to see if the engine going to cut out its not nice for the engine or snorkel to get strangled like that if its all sealed properly the engine dies instantly if the engine sits there idling away nicely theres a leak in the system

When you fit it sit the snorkel up against the guard with the template behind it and eyeball every where it fits to make sure the template is accurate. My one is a Chinese knock off and the fit is poor and the template was so wrong it got binned. Also dont use a silicone based sealer on any bare metal as it speeds up the rusting process. If possible prime all holes and use some urethane to seal.

It all sounds good and the leak test is easy enough, biggest trouble is I have no template haha
