the technical answer is no because the engine has to draw air a longer distance and around corners which means added resistance and friction so the engine has to work harder to get the air into the combustion chambers

, but despite that unless you've added some other sort of other restriction into the intake (crushed pipe or reduced diameter) you wont actually notice any difference in engine performance

triple check the template before you drill or cut any holes some templates are good and some aren't actually designed for this planet

once you've got it installed and everything plumbed in pop the ram off the top and try sealing your hand over the top of the snorkel while the engines running to check for leaks, disclaimer: just do it quickly to see if the engine going to cut out its not nice for the engine or snorkel to get strangled like that

if its all sealed properly the engine dies instantly if the engine sits there idling away nicely theres a leak in the system
